Retail and Customer Service Assistant

Kim Wallace Ceramics is a boutique ceramics manufacturer based in Noosaville. We specialise in small-batch tableware, ceramic cups and giftware. We have established a successful market, working with restaurants and shops all over Australia and around the world, as well as providing customers with handmade pieces through our shopfront, as well as online.

About the role

An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and motivated Retail & Customer Service Assistant to join our growing team! Reporting to the Owner/Creative Director, this position requires an experienced multi-tasker who is able to hit the ground running, and can divide their energy between online and in-store Customer Service. A fresh, vibrant energy and the ability to deliver a beautiful customer service experience both face to face, and via email and social media are critical aspects of the role.

This role is essential to the business, providing the link between all the hard work that goes into handmaking each of our ceramic pieces behind the scenes, and bringing these pieces to the outside world, ensuring the best experience possible for our customers from start to finish. A passion for handmade beautiful ceramics is vital, taking pride in selling our work and an eagerness to learn all there is to learn about our ceramics to ensure your advice to customers is knowledgeable and accurate.  

We are looking for someone with a genuine love for customer service, who thrives on connecting with people and finding out what they are looking for in our products, playing detective when customers need help deciding and encouraging product upsells where suited.

The position is casual, with the potential for permanent part-time after a probationary period of 3 months. The position offers approximately 15 hours work per week over three days with the potential for more in the busy seasons.

What we're looking for:

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills including the capacity to liaise with a broad range of people in a friendly, responsive and timely manner.
  • Prev­ious experience in a customer service or retail role.
  • Experience in a busy work environment, supporting a team.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and proficiency in time and task management, with strong prioritisation skills and an excellent ability to multitask between jobs.
  • Ability to work self-directed and independently, and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to handle customer complaints with grace and compassionate communication.
  • Capability to exercise initiative and be methodical in the performance of duties, making sound decisions and taking actions in area of responsibility.
  • Well-presented, professional and positive attitude with a high level of motivation.
  • Flair for styling, product display and visual presentation.

Though not essential, the following would be beneficial:

  • Previous experience in a customer service or retail role, with a working knowledge of a retail software package.
  • Industry specific knowledge or previous experience in a similar industry.
  • Basic level camera operation skills using a digital SLR, photo editing skills using Adobe Lightroom.

Packaging and Production Assistant

About the role

An opportunity exists for a Packaging and Production Assistant to join our growing team! Reporting to the Owner/Creative Director, this position primarily  involves packaging orders to set standards for delivery to general customers, wholesale customers and restaurants locally and international, as well as production of ceramics when required to support an efficient business operation, and dealing with clients and suppliers when required.

A passion for handmade beautiful ceramics is vital, taking pride in producing and packaging our work and an eagerness to learn all there is to learn about our ceramics.

The position is casual, with the potential for permanent part-time after a probationary period of 3 months. The position offers approximately 15 hours work per week over three days with the potential for more in the busy seasons.

What we're looking for

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the capacity to liaise with a broad range of people in a friendly, responsive and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail, with an excellent ability to multitask between jobs and stages of clay production.
  • Ability to work self-directed and independently, and as a member of a team.
  • Capability to use a methodical approach and efficiency in the performance of duties, to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude with a high level of motivation.
  • Computer literacy with an ability to use software to book parcels and organise courier pickup, ensuring the most economical way for packing and booking freight.

Though not essential, the following would be beneficial

  • Previous experience in dispatch or packaging is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Experience working in a similar ceramic production environment is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
