Renée Treml

Renée Treml
American-born and now based in Fremantle, Renée moved to Australia in 2007 and fell immediately for its wildlife. With a background in ecology, she draws native animals with unusual care — sleepy wombats, koalas and joeys, roos and bilbies — each with their own quiet personality.
Her illustrations begin as scratchboard drawings, built through fine lines and light rather than colour. Those drawings are then applied to cups, trays, dishes and ornaments made in the KW Ceramics Noosa studio, and fired again so the image becomes part of the piece.
The result is ceramics with a little Australian charm — familiar, detailed, and made to be used every day.
